Showcasing our Photographs from the 1980s
Hazelwood Farm, Silverdale was one of our first sites and our main task was dry stone walling.
At Hazelwood Farm, 1989
and here in 1995, removing loose stone, replacing it starting with the largest base stones dug into foundations. Two parallel sides were gradually built up, tapering slightly, with a filling of small stones in between. The wall was also reinforced with large through stones at intervals and finally top stones across the width. Fitting uneven limestone pieces together is rather like doing a jigsaw!
